Robert’s Design Challenge
During my MSc Integrated Product Design at Brunel University London, I took part in a live design challenge set by Roberts Radio. The brief asked students to reimagine a product using one of two brand aesthetics: Revival or Rambler.
I chose the Revival aesthetic and designed a classic British all-in-one sound system. While the product looks like a traditional vintage radio, it incorporates modern features such as Bluetooth connectivity, voice assistant integration, and high-quality audio components. The design reflects Roberts Radio’s heritage while meeting the expectations of today’s users.
This project gave me the opportunity to balance brand identity with user needs and apply modern design thinking to a nostalgic aesthetic.

As part of the project, I also designed a fashion-forward limited edition of the product, focusing on unique textures and bold visual appeal. This version embraced a high-end, style-driven aesthetic, featuring snake leather-style patterns, a chrome Roberts logo, and leatherette-covered tuning buttons. The combination of luxurious materials and distinctive detailing gave the product a more expressive and exclusive character, aligning with the idea of a collectible or statement piece within the Revival range.
